A little bit about myself …

Hello! I am Julie Hood - midwestern mom of three littles, NASM personal trainer, UESCA Running Coach, outdoor and travel enthusiast, and marathon runner!

I have always been active and played sports my entire life - but didn’t find running until college. I was actually supposed to play volleyball at my small division III school; but the summer before college, I realized I liked the running I did for conditioning more than volleyball. Thus, I reached out to the cross country coach and decided I wanted to run! That one little decision changed my life for the better. I ran track (10K) and cross country at DePauw University all four years and it gave me the greatest community in college and it is how I met my husband!

Fresh out of college (and being a little Type A…), I fell in love with the structure and purpose that training for a marathon gave me! Through first jobs, engagements and moving as a newlywed to a new state - I can honestly say running and the running community was my lifeline!

I ran 9 marathons in 4 years and then decided to take a break to start a family. Spoiler alert … kids can rock your world! It took me 10 years to figure out the balance and strength to run another marathon. In 2024, I coached myself for my first postpartum marathon and I am super proud to say that after 3 kids and being 10 years older - I got a Personal Record!

I love running and the running community and it has been such a huge part of my life! I am here to help others find time for running and/or make it less complicated and achieve their running goals!
